Brandable domain name sales week 9: NatureLab.com, Reja.com, Motivo.com

There has been a lot of talks lately about rising reseller prices and more recently a decreasing (or flattening) demand from end users. I have had a slow start of the year myself with just one single end-user sale but my portfolio is too small to properly represent the entire brandable market so I decided to look at the top 20 sales from exactly one year ago and with an average sales price of $6,950 per domain name it is only slightly higher than this week’s average sales price of $6,351 per domain. A question I have been asking myself lately is if it isn’t more profitable in the current market to sell a portion of one’s brandable portfolio in the reseller market for today’s prices instead of holding for end-user sales with a 2 to 5% sell-through rate annually.

Here’s this weeks list:

Please do keep in mind that these are the highest sales that have been reported at NameBio et al. This list is meant to help give you insights and is nowhere near complete as many sales are kept private and the major marketplaces specializing in brandable domains do not report their sales. Some domain name sales might not have been paid for yet.

If you know of any recent, verifiable brandable domain name sales please do let me know so I can include them in next week’s report.

  1. Only reason end-user prices are rising are because now multiple blogs are publishing the same domains on their lists.

People are buying what blogs tell them to and in return will actually hurt the domaining community because reseller prices are going up, but demand for these names from end users isn’t.

  2. I decided to make that jump myself Doron and lowered all of our names to below 1K, I would rather have faster turnover then waiting years or decades for a big payday. Maybe you can suggest the other good places to sell to resellers? I have slowly been cutting out junk in my portfolio at renewal time as I have seen you do often with a few new buying rules on acquisitions.
