Newly funded startups and their (domain) names – week 28.

There was lots of activity in startup land once again with more than 70 new startup companies raising a combined 247+ million dollars in funding throughout the week. More than 77% of companies in this batch  launched with a .com domain name with the ccTLDs coming in second and .io and .co sharing a third place with 3 funded startups each.

Some name + domain combos I like on this week’s list are Legit which makes a social watchlist App for movies and TV shows and owns the matching .com,  Adored which runs a loyalty experience platform at and, a new recruitment site for European startups looking to hire programming talent. Worst domain name on this list imo is from a company called DateBox, which is actually a pretty good name but has chosen to use without the O as their domain name. I think the exact match .co or even a hyphenated version would have been a much better alternative if they are currently unable to acquire the exact match .com.

Here’s this weeks list:

  1. Hi Doron as always thank you for the list-just curious-have you had some luck with BrandBucket on your own brandables/startup names? Thank you.

  2. Many of these names would not be accepted for listing on Brand Bucket…….. Even so, a very informative post as always. Thanks Doron! Your hard work is deeply appreciated.

  3. … for some reason this stands out for me. Good to see a “ster” name making the fray. Checkster was suited to the ster, for me sometimes these don’t work, but I liked this one.

ReferralMob… hmmm. Mob is a cool word, but referral perhaps not so. But that one got me curious.

Hopefully Adored will get some traction.

Legit…. ok so in the States is this also short for “legitimate”? A definite sort of “it’s kosher” meaning to that one in some parts of the planet.

Thanks Doron for the list – again the contrast with the other list of amazing brandable sales.
