This week we saw a total of 42 startups announce seed or angel investment which is slightly up from last week when we looked at 38 newly funded startups and their domain names. More than 71% of this weeks startups launched on a .com domain with .io being a very distant 2nd with 3 startups opting for this extension.
With $6,000,000 in seed funding, healthcare technology company Vital tops this weeks list in terms of funding. The company is using a .co domain while the .com version was first registered in 1994 and is currently owned by Vital Technologies Inc, a company based in Texas, USA that currently forwards the domain to one of their sites. Runner up with $5,000,000 in funding is software platform insert. The company launched on a .io domain while the .com is currently listed for sale on Afternic for $150,000 and owned by IP attorneys Greenberg & Lieberman. With 5M in the bank I would grab the .com straight away at that price if I were insert.
The award for worst name this week goes to Viuing. A very difficult to pronounce, hard to spell and impossible to remember name imo. My advice would be to use some of that funding to come up with a better name for their company.
